The Journey
The Journey is a short dance film that ties improvisational movement, cinematography, and spoken poetry into a three-part exploration of hope, hardship, and renewal. This interdisciplinary short film, created under the direction of Lance Glenn and Marlyse Noble was revised and premiered in full February 21, 2026

With two years of shaping, this original work evolved into an exploration of a metaphorical journey— what it feels like to experience novelty with beginnings full of hope and excitement. What it looks like to navigate hardship when life takes a turn and how it feels to tread through difficult valleys, eventually overcoming trials, capturing what it means to look back with gratitude now settled in a place of being renewed and restored. This film shows how serenity, closure, and resilience forward eventually comes and continues to pour into a continuous loop of inspiration, similar to how hope is found in the recurrence of sunrises and sunsets each turning day humanity is granted.

I feel a new journey
As if I’m waking to a fresh start
Slow mornings passing by,
As my feet follow along
And I wake
In reminiscence
Of the beginning
Endless potential
Bundled possibilities
That are plentiful
And exciting
I thought about the direction in which steps go
But where do you go
When you can’t seem to place yourself
In comprehension of where feet fell
where voices haven’t caught up
But feelings have arrived in full
Awaiting to be released
A bittersweet tangent of momentary
Confusion
That spirals,
But settles somewhere in the freshness of nature
In the meanwhile
Somehow life sweeps you wondrously
Away
And you’re coming to stand in the contemplative present
nostalgia and time has so graciously granted
Nothing short of extraordinary
And reflecting back,
It becomes lovely to sense all
Notions fall remarkable
In a glorious picture life has presented
